The Tampa Airport Marriott Hotel will be hosting the Southeast Japanese Sword Show & Auction, taking place February 10th-12th, 2017. This annual event achieves a special importance this year with two TV crews coming from Japan to produce Shows about American collections of Japanese swords. One will be a PBS style documentary and the other a fun look at dispelling myths and misinformation about sword collecting in America. The show itself will abound with Japanese swords and Samurai artifacts including armor, matchlock firearms, and archery items. Japanese art, woodblock prints and antiques are also well represented. There is a special free exhibit for the general public called “The Art and Arms of the Samurai. There is a lively auction on Friday evening at 7 PM for those who wish to buy and sell in a competitive environment. Saturday there will be a number of educational opportunities and martial arts exhibitions. See the show promoters website for more information. The NBTHK-AB (an international sword preservation organization) will host a special exhibit in the afternoon.
