Consigning to Our Live and Online Auction
We are looking for quality items in all price categories from about $500 and up. The criterion should be that the items are worthy of a catalog listing. For example, a sword need not be polished or papered, but there should be a reasonable expectation of collector interest in the piece.
Listing Fees
Fittings may be grouped to increase the value of the sales lot, but the items should be worthy of collector interest. Listing fees will vary according to the amount of space the items take up in the catalog. A full page sword listing is $175 and a full page of sword fittings would be he same. A single tsuba is $35 and fuchi kashira, menuki and kozuka list individually for $25 each. Items with special provenance or papers may require more space and incur a higher listing fee. We will therefore quote the listing fees for your lots on an individual basis to best represent your pieces.
Items such as estate pieces which are consigned without reserve, will incur no listing fees.
For items to be consigned to this auction the seller and auction house must agree on the minimum reserve. Reserves cannot be changed during the course of the auction.
Sellers Premium
The sellers premium will be 12%. This amount will be deducted from the selling price along with any other monies owed to the Auction House. Unsold lots will not incur a buy-in fee, but any unpaid listing fees or other financial obligations to the Auction House must be settled prior to pick up or return of your items.
Sellers Contract
The consignment agreement sets forth the sellers reserve and the Auction House's sellers premium.
Reserve Price
This is a fully reserved auction. The reserve is the sellers confidential minimum selling price agreed upon with the Auction House below which any bid will not be accepted. On the day after the auction the Auction House may attempt to negotiate a closing between unsuccessful sellers and high bidders but reserves cannot be changed on the day of the sale.
Insurance
If you consign items to our auction they will be under our insurance policy from the time of your shipping until returned to the seller or delivered to the buyer. To take advantage of this arrangement, a signed consignment form must be included in the package you ship to us. Actual shipping costs are the responsibility of the seller or buyer.
